The Higher Certificate in Motion Picture Make-Up aims to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform effectively on a Film and Television set, in Fashion shoots, in Commercials and in the Theatre as a Make–Up Artist. The purpose of the qualification is to provide students with the ability to foster an understanding of the Entertainment Industries' organisational activities, it's business environment, as well as its employees.

On successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to seek career fields in the private sectors. The graduates will have the competencies to perform in the Entertainment Industries and understand their business-related activities as well as management duties.

The minimum programme duration is 1 year and the maximum duration is 2 years. Tuition is face to face. City Varsity tuition is scheduled per campus. Programmes are offered during the week on a full-time basis.

On successful completion of the programme, you will receive a Higher Certificate in Motion Picture Make-Up.

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate endorsement, or
• A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with Higher Certificate endorsement, or
• A Senior Certificate (SC), with minimum 33,3% for English, or
• Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), with Higher Certificate endorsement, or
• Foreign School leaving Certificate that complies with minimum admission requirements for Higher Certificate study as gazetted. An equivalency evaluation must be completed through the Matriculation Board; or
• RPL /CAT (as per admission policy), or
• Age Exemption (23 years or older as per admission policy).
