The Higher Certificate in Acting for Camera provides students with sufficient foundational competencies required for meaningful participation in the creative media sector. Students are provided with the practical fundamentals of acting with a general understanding of the technical and artistic requirements of the processes involved in the making of productions for filmed performance within the South African film and television industry.

As a foundation programme, the Higher Certificate in Acting for Camera is also designed to facilitate student access into the first year of undergraduate degree or diploma studies at City Varsity.

The minimum programme duration is 1 year and the maximum duration is 2 years. Tuition is face to face. City Varsity tuition is scheduled per campus. Programmes are offered during the week on a full-time basis.

On successful completion of the programme, the student will receive a will receive a Higher Certificate in Acting for Camera.

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate endorsement, or
• A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with Higher Certificate endorsement, or
• A Senior Certificate (SC), with minimum 33,3% for English, or
• Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), with Higher Certificate endorsement, or
• Foreign School leaving Certificate that complies with minimum admission requirements for Higher Certificate study as gazetted. An equivalency evaluation must be completed through the Matriculation Board; or
• RPL /CAT (as per admission policy), or
• Age Exemption (23 years or older as per admission policy).
