The Diploma in Professional Acting for Camera offered at City Varsity provides students with the basic knowledge, general principles and practical procedural skills to become versatile, disciplined and professional actors with a thorough understanding of the technical and artistic requirements of acting. Typical graduates will be able to access opportunities and work at practitioner-level in one, or a combination of the following career fields: film, television and theatre industries as well as their contexts.

In addition, this qualification will articulate vertically to art-related programmes pegged at NQF level 7 by ensuring learning preparedness and equipping them with the skills required to succeed in higher levels of study.

The minimum programme duration is 3 years and the maximum duration is 5 years. Tuition is face to face. CityVarsity tuition is scheduled per campus. Programmes are offered during the week on a full-time basis.

On successful completion of the programme, you will receive a Diploma in Professional Acting for Camera.

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Diploma endorsement, or
• A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with Diploma endorsement, or
• Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), with Diploma endorsement, or
• A Senior Certificate (SC); or
• Foreign School leaving Certificate that complies with minimum admission requirements for Diploma study as gazetted by the Matriculation Board (Equivalency evaluation is completed with the Matriculation Board); or
• RPL /CAT ( as per admission policy); or
• Age Exemption (23 years or older as per admission policy)
