The Bachelor of Arts offered at City Varsity provides students with the basic knowledge, general principles and practical procedural skills to become versatile, disciplined and professional actors with a thorough understanding of the technical and artistic requirements of acting. Typical graduates will be able to access opportunities and work at practitioner-level in one, or a combination of the following career fields: film, television and theatre industries as well as their contexts.

In addition, this qualification will articulate vertically to art-related programmes pegged at NQF level 8 by ensuring learning preparedness and equipping graduates with the skills required to succeed in higher levels of study.

The minimum programme duration is 3 years and the maximum duration is 5 years. Tuition is face to face. City Varsity tuition is scheduled per campus. Programmes are offered during the week on a full-time basis.

On successful completion of the programme, you will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Acting.

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with degree endorsement, or
  • A National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 4 with degree endorsement, or
  • Amended Senior Certificate (ASC), with degree endorsement, or
  • A Senior Certificate (SC), with University Exemption, or
  • Have met all the requirements of the National Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and successfully completed a Higher Certificate or similar qualification at NQF level 5, or
  • Foreign School leaving Certificate that complies with minimum admission requirements for degree study as gazetted. An equivalency evaluation must be completed through the Matriculation Board, or
  • RPL /CAT (as per admission policy), or
  • Age Exemption (23 years or older as per admission policy).
