Vocal Training for Radio
 

BACKGROUND:

Over the past years the broadcasting, entertainment and media sector in South Africa has grown exponentially. Indications are that this trend will continue for years to come. With the expansion of local, national and community radio and the growth of the independent sector, there is a demand to train a new breed of professionals who have the ability to work in various aspects of media and communication. Obviously, not everybody who tries will succeed in carving out a career in this industry, but the better qualified you are, the better the chance of your success. Therefore, correct training is vital to secure work opportunities in this sector.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The Radio Course provides hands-on practical training to students seeking to learn how to produce and present a radio show. If you have no previous experience and want to become a radio DJ then this course provides a great foundation from which to build your career. You do not need radio experience or a media related degree but you do need to be genuinely excited by radio

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong, natural elements of performance.
  • Individuals to enter the training with an open mind and no inhibitions.
  • Proficiency in English.

COURSE OUTLINE:

  • Hard sell, soft sell, news, adverts, character work
  • A breakdown of the medium (radio)
  • Conducting Interviews
  • Asses their personal growth and Voice development.
  • Understand the basic anatomy regarding the functioning of the human voice
  • Understand the principles and exercises involved for good voice production.
  • Apply the techniques learnt for building the performers voice
  • Learn the process involved in a voice warm-up
  • Body Work
  • Breathing
  • Connecting the sound with the breath
  • Creating resonance and freeing the voice
  • Articulation/ Muscularity
  • Applying voice work to the text
  • Addressing specific problems/ needs
  • Focussing for performance or rehearsal
